This initiative targets local students mostly from the local universities, such as University of Zambia and Copperbelt University, for core engineering disciplines. This initiative is part of building KCM’s talent bench strength.
Introduced an education programme for out of school mothers to be enrolled and sit for examination which has benefited 1,200 people under the Adult Literacy Programme
KCM operate Secondary and Primary Trust Schools with about 2,400 pupils in Chingola and Chililabombwe, offering education from pre-grade to A-levels
Community Development Programmes
Provision of clean water to over 8000+ residents of Chingola through the installation Solar powered boreholes. The water facilities comprise of boreholes, purification plants and 21 water distribution points aimed at alleviating problems of water in the areas and improving sanitation and hygiene. The water from the facilities meets World Health Organisation (WHO) standards and has been certified fit for drinking by the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS).
Training and establishment of Leather workshop to create alternative employment targeting 200 youths and boost the leather cottage industry in Zambia

Workplace sport forms part of KCM’s wellness programmes for employees.
KCM pioneered private sector sponsorship of the entire Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) League (2006-2011)
